The distance between the cities is almost 400 miles (624 km) however the AVE train travels at speeds up to 185 miles per hour so the trip took just 2 hours and 45 minutes exactly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/IMG_79291.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10033\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/IMG_79291.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7929\" width=\"400\" height=\"253\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We traveled through the Spanish countryside which was surprisingly flat and dotted with farms.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/IMG_79461.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10034\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/IMG_79461.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7946\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/IMG_79501.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10035\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/IMG_79501.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7950\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nWe arrived in the capital of Spain at exactly 1:45pm. \u00a0The Atocha Station was very modern and clean.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/IMG_79651.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10036\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/IMG_79651.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7965\" width=\"400\" height=\"287\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/IMG_79711.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10037\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/IMG_79711.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7971\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We found our hotel easily with the assistance of a taxi.
