{"id":11368,"date":"2016-09-18T18:18:00","date_gmt":"2016-09-18T22:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/?p=11368"},"modified":"2020-05-25T14:00:55","modified_gmt":"2020-05-25T18:00:55","slug":"iguazu-national-park-argentina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/?p=11368","title":{"rendered":"Iguazu National Park, Argentina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sunday, September 18, 2016<\/p>\n<p>This morning we made arranged to join two other travelers and hired a van to take us across the border to Argentina to see the other side of Iguazu Falls. \u00a0It turned out to be a good idea because we had to make three stops.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0923.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11369\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0923.jpg\" alt=\"img_0923\" width=\"400\" height=\"298\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The first stop was to exchange money into Argentinian <em>Pesos<\/em>. \u00a0Then we stopped at the border to leave Brazil and another official stop to enter Argentina. \u00a0The van dropped us off\u00a0at the National Park ticket office and Linda, our new friend Katie, and I followed several\u00a0paths through the dense tropical forest.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0909.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11370\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0909.jpg\" alt=\"img_0909\" width=\"400\" height=\"301\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0934.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11371\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0934.jpg\" alt=\"img_0934\" width=\"400\" height=\"296\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, we had viewed Iguazu Falls from a panoramic distance on the Brazilian side. \u00a0Here on the Argentinian side, we were closer to the falls because we were above and next to the magnificent crashing waters.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0956.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11372\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0956.jpg\" alt=\"img_0956\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There were many\u00a0birds in the trees, but difficult to photograph. \u00a0I took one picture of a large toucan.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0959.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11373\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0959.jpg\" alt=\"img_0959\" width=\"400\" height=\"363\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0961.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11374\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0961.jpg\" alt=\"img_0961\" width=\"400\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Katie and a South American ring-tailed coati, also known as\u00a0<em>quati<\/em>\u00a0in Portuguese:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0970.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11375\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0970.jpg\" alt=\"img_0970\" width=\"400\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0988.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11376\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0988.jpg\" alt=\"img_0988\" width=\"400\" height=\"278\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0991.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11381\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMG_0991.jpg\" alt=\"img_0991\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A friendly young family on vacation from Brasilia, the capital of Brazil stopped to talk to us.
