{"id":13594,"date":"2018-02-02T07:01:38","date_gmt":"2018-02-02T12:01:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/?p=13594"},"modified":"2018-02-18T07:04:15","modified_gmt":"2018-02-18T12:04:15","slug":"doha-qatar-to-muscat-oman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/?p=13594","title":{"rendered":"Doha, Qatar to Muscat, Oman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Friday &#8211; February 2, 2018<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_4188.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13595\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_4188.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"285\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Our short time in Doha was ending. \u00a0What a fabulous city! \u00a0We had a good breakfast in the Santa Monica Breakfast Club and I took some last photos of the grounds of the Grand Hyatt Hotel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_4181.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13596\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_4181.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Doha proved to be a fantastic city to visit. \u00a0The country of Qatar was very clean, safe, beautiful, with much to do, and easy to get around by taxi. \u00a0I wish I could have stayed longer. \u00a0Our Vantage tour group went to Qatar&#8217;s modern airport and we flew the short distance to Muscat, Oman.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DSC_2410.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13597\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DSC_2410.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"313\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The most surprising first impression of the city of Muscat was that it was all green! \u00a0As the plane approached the city I saw the stark rocky mountains which form the backdrop of the city and then many trees, bushes, and green lawns. \u00a0 Although the country is primarily a desert, Oman has natural springs and plenty of water!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_4235.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13598\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_4235.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I took a few photos from the bus to remember the sights. \u00a0Oman has height limitations on all buildings so there were no huge skyscrapers, like the modern cities of their Arabian neighbors. \u00a0The scale of Muscat is quite human and comfortable.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_4237.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13603\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_4237.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"276\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then we arrived at the Grand Hyatt Muscat and were astounded by the incredible lobby. \u00a0Our Vantage tour group was asked to wait under one of the tents in the huge space while our tour leader, Maged, checked us in, but I had to take pictures!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_4246.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13604\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_4246.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_4260.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13605\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_4260.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"273\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The three and a half story lobby overlooked several pools and a lazy river. \u00a0There was a \u00a0beach beyond the hotel property along the Muscat Corniche.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_4249.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13606\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IMG_4249.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We were shown to our huge comfortable room which had a balcony overlooking the pools and beach. \u00a0There was an Indonesian restaurant adjacent to one of the pools. \u00a0Linda and I relaxed and tried the hotel Wifi for a while. Then we went back to the lobby restaurant to enjoy an amazing buffet dinner.
