October 14, 2018<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"DSC_8668.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/DSC_8668.jpg\" alt=\"DSC 8668\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our schedule called for three Sea Days between Pago Pago and Auckland, New Zealand. \u00a0However after one day out, Captain Aldo announced that there was a medical emergency on board and we would be briefly stopping at the island of Tonga to let one of the passengers off the ship to receive medical attention. \u00a0Jeff and I saw the abrupt westward turn of the ship on our cabin navigation screen as the ship changed course and aimed for Tonga. \u00a0Unfortunately, it was dark when the ship slowed down for its approach into the harbor.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_7145.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_7145.jpg\" alt=\"IMG 7145\" width=\"400\" height=\"288\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We finished dinner and went out on deck to watch the harbor tugboats escort our ship into the harbor. \u00a0All we could see was a ring of lights on the horizon around the ship. \u00a0The Golden Princess stopped for a total of seven minutes to offload the ailing passenger and we were underway again.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_7151.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_7151.jpg\" alt=\"IMG 7151\" width=\"400\" height=\"285\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The pilot boat came alongside the ship to pick up the pilot. \u00a0Everyone on board watching from the rails cheered and waved to the pilot. \u00a0He and his crew waved back and then they sped away back to the Tongan harbor. \u00a0We resumed our course south toward New Zealand. \u00a0After all the excitement, we all wondered about the ill passenger and wished him\/her good luck.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"DSC_8948.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/DSC_8948-1.jpg\" alt=\"DSC 8948\" width=\"400\" height=\"262\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We lost October 12th, 2018. \u00a0It was very confusing to loose a day when the ship crossed the International Dateline. \u00a0I went to sleep Thursday night and woke up Saturday morning!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"DSC_8939-2.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/DSC_8939-2.jpg\" alt=\"DSC 8939 2\" width=\"400\" height=\"266\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Atrium was decorated and ready for a celebration balloon-drop since almost half the passengers were leaving in Auckland. \u00a0Of course, another 900 passengers would embark to fill those staterooms. \u00a0The winds picked up for our final days on board and the South Pacific Ocean was rough with three meter high seas. \u00a0We arrived in Auckland, on Sunday, October 14, 2018 and disembarked on the island of New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block;
