{"id":14379,"date":"2018-10-23T00:03:25","date_gmt":"2018-10-23T04:03:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/?p=14379"},"modified":"2018-11-07T16:57:31","modified_gmt":"2018-11-07T21:57:31","slug":"boarding-the-majestic-princess","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/?p=14379","title":{"rendered":"Boarding The Majestic Princess"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tuesday &#8211; October 23, 2018<\/p>\n<p>Our South Pacific Adventure continues today when we board the Majestic Princess cruise ship to travel down the eastern coast of New Zealand. \u00a0The ship came right upto the dock next to our hotel early this morning. \u00a0We went out to take a few photos:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"DSC_9979.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_9979.jpg\" alt=\"DSC 9979\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"DSC_9992.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_9992.jpg\" alt=\"DSC 9992\" width=\"400\" height=\"256\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Majestic Princess was built in 2017 and is the newest ship in the Princess fleet. \u00a0It\u2019s the biggest ship we\u2019ve ever sailed on: 1,083 feet long; 126 ft wide; draws 28 ft of water. \u00a0There are 3,560 passengers housed in 1,780 cabins on 19 decks with a crew of 1,346. \u00a0It\u2019s humungous!!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"DSC_9988.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_9988.jpg\" alt=\"DSC 9988\" width=\"400\" height=\"260\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We checked out of the Hilton Hotel and walked around to the boarding area. \u00a0We followed the lines to check luggage, pass through security and immigration, and register. \u00a0Within 25 minutes we had our boarding cards and we stepped aboard the floating behemoth.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"DSC_0051.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0051.jpg\" alt=\"DSC 0051\" width=\"400\" height=\"277\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We found our cabin and set out to explore the ship. \u00a0It had some similarities to the Golden Princess but on a grander scale. \u00a0Everything seemed to be bigger.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"DSC_0065.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/DSC_0065.jpg\" alt=\"DSC 0065\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The ship was built for the Asian market\u00a0and its Chinese name is: \u201cGrand Spirit.\u201d \u00a0All signs are in English and Chinese. \u00a0There\u2019s a \u201cNoodle Bar\u201d and a Chinese Restaurant on board.
