Here are some photos I took this month with my cell phone while I ambled around my favorite city: New York.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15502\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1948.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"296\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Glenda Jackson was superb as King Lear, but the rest of the performance wasn&#8217;t quite up to her level:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15496\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1865.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Of all the kooks around Times Square, this <em>Back to the Future<\/em> look-alike with a real <em>DeLorean<\/em> got lots of attention:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15497\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1868.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"295\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The N. Y. Botanical Garden in the Bronx was gorgeous and in full bloom this spring:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15498\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1938.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"299\" \/><\/p>\n<p>John Guare&#8217;s <em>Nantucket Sleigh Ride<\/em> starring John Larroquette at Lincoln Center Theater was very entertaining.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15499\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1915.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"301\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After going to Egypt in February, I wanted to revisit the Egyptian galleries at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They have an excellent collection.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15500\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1882.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"312\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15501\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2085.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"305\" \/><\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re planning to modernize the train schedule boards soon at Grand Central Terminal. \u00a0So I had to have a photo of the old boards before they&#8217;re digitized.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15503\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2003.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"303\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Luckily, we happened upon the colorful Nepal Day Parade which ended in Madison Square Park. The women graciously posed for photographers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15504\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2025.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"313\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s so much construction going on in &#8216;The City&#8217; that the Empire State Building is rapidly losing its status as &#8220;tallest tower.&#8221; According to a recent NY Times article, by 2024 the Empire State Building will be the 11th tallest tower in the city.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15505\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2031.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"353\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A &#8220;new&#8221; mode of transportation?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15506\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2068.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"323\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Monday Night Magic<\/em> bills itself as &#8220;the longest running Off-B&#8217;way Magic Show in New York.&#8221; Jeff and I throughly enjoyed the magic show in Greenwich Village!!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15507\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2072.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"290\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The bear in my dentist&#8217;s waiting room was fashionably decorated for spring:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15508\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_1945.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"394\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>The Ferryman<\/em> written by Jez Butterworth was the best play I&#8217;ve seen in a long time! The story is about a family of a former IRA activist living in Northern Ireland. Wonderful cast; touching story.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15509\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_2087.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"314\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, what does the Gallivanting Grandma do when she&#8217;s not wandering around the world??
