My colleagues and I rallied and attended several seminars. We also saw performances given by local school children.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16349\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_1636.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"304\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16350\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_1661.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"295\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16351\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_1689.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the evening, we were taken to a performance of the Peking Opera. Before the performance starts, it is tradition to watch the performers apply their makeup.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16352\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_1729.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16353\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_1719.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"245\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The production is a visual treat of colorful costumes where performers sing, dance, and engage in physical combat on the stage.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16354\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_1753.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"264\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16355\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_1757.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"281\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I learned rather quickly to appreciate vast spaces to accommodate many people and the huge size of Beijing. \u00a0Traffic is very heavy and it takes a lot of time to get anywhere.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16356\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_1326.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"295\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16357\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IMG_1796.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"283\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Add to the mix is construction!
