I took the train to Manhattan to have lunch with my son, Chris, at one of my favorite restaurants.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"282\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_E7925.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19727\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Columbus Monument<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Recently, the NYC Subways have earned a reputation for being &#8220;dangerous.&#8221;  I&#8217;ve traveled the subways for my entire life and they were never warm &amp; cozy places, but always very interesting&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"310\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_E7922.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19728\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">42nd Street Shuttle<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>When Chris and I arrived at 38th Street, I was surprised to see a public art display on every corner along Park Avenue. Carole A. Feuerman&#8217;s lifelike statues graced each cross street.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"382\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_E7935.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19731\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Quan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>What a treat on a chilly winter&#8217;s day in Murray Hill! They looked like real flesh &#8216;n&#8217; blood people who were going to move in the next second!<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_7928.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19734\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Justice<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The grande finale on 34th Street was Carole Feuerman&#8217;s <em>Golden Mean<\/em>. The statue is a 1,500 pound bronze of a male diver. Feuerman described her sculpture as &#8220;An icon for achieving the impossible, for the struggle of survival and strength, and the resilience of the human spirit.&#8221;  Wonderful&#8230;..<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"293\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG_E7937.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19735\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Golden Mean<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It had snowed in &#8220;The City&#8221; leaving a light dusting on surfaces for a brief time.
