After seeing Haida artist Bill Reid&#8217;s monumental sculpture at the Museum of Anthropology, we wanted to visit his gallery in town. It was located in a lovely little building near an open area called Cathedral Place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DSC_1333.resized.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-4299\" title=\"DSC_1333.resized\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DSC_1333.resized.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"300\" \/><\/span><\/a>Entrance to the Bill Reid Gallery<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DSC_1328.resized.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-4300\" title=\"DSC_1328.resized\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DSC_1328.resized.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"300\" \/><\/span><\/a>Looking Across Cathedral Place<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cathedral Place was a grassy oasis or sanctuary in the center of downtown Vancouver complete with flying buttresses and copper roofs. It would be a lovely place for the office workers to have a picnic lunch on sunny days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Bill Reid Gallery was a small jewel of a museum which displayed a variety of his works. Reid was a carver and painter but also created statues in bronze and made jewellery in gold, silver, and precious gems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DSC_1336.resized3.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-4306\" title=\"DSC_1336.resized\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DSC_1336.resized3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"300\" \/><\/span><\/a>Museum of Vancouver<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Afterwards, we drove to the MOV in Vanier Park across the Burrard Bridge. The museum had exhibits of the history and development of the city of Vancouver. You have to wonder what future generations would show of our current fashion scene.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DSC_1356.resized.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-4315\" title=\"DSC_1356.resized\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DSC_1356.resized.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"300\" \/><\/span><\/a>Neon Exhibit<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This was another temporary exhibit of neon signs which were used in Vancouver before a local beautification committee outlawed the gaudy signs throughout most of the city.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DSC_1366.resized.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-4318\" title=\"DSC_1366.resized\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DSC_1366.resized.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"300\" \/><\/span><\/a>Historic Reproduction<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This was part of the permanent exhibit which demonstrated the early settlement of Vancouver. Other sections showed how the people lived in the early days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DSC_1372.resized.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-4319\" title=\"DSC_1372.resized\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DSC_1372.resized.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"300\" \/><\/span><\/a>1955 Ford Fairlane<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This automobile was from the exhibit of life in Vancouver during the 1950s. This exhibit made me feel old! This car was identical to my mother&#8217;s first car except hers was orange &amp; white. I like this photo because it looks like the crab is jumping out of the water and trying to reach the heavy gray clouds. What other major modern city has a gorgeous sand beach within walking distance of down-town?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DSC_1389.resized.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-4323\" title=\"DSC_1389.resized\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/DSC_1389.resized.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"300\" \/><\/span><\/a>Stanley Park<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I had to take this photograph as we were driving through Stanley Park to show the magnificent old growth redwoods and evergreens in the park.
