The building appeared\u00a0to be new and was located across the road from the Presque Isle Downs &amp; Casino. \u00a0Our two-room suite was huge but nothing justified the price. We left early and got on Interstate 90 toward Cleveland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2446.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6601\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2446.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2446\" width=\"400\" height=\"210\" \/><\/a>Overhead Sign on I-90<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In about half an hour we crossed the border into Ohio. For several\u00a0miles there were wineries on both sides of the highway. Signs identified the many different vineyards. We never heard of mid-western wine and the flat land was nothing like the steep hills of Italy or France.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2449.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6602\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2449.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2449\" width=\"400\" height=\"254\" \/><\/a>Coming into Cleveland<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The speed limit was 70 mph\u00a0but the road\u00a0was flat and had very few curves.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2458.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6603\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2458.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2458\" width=\"400\" height=\"246\" \/><\/a>Rainy Road<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After a while, the clouds dumped their moisture on us. \u00a0It was Sunday morning and fortunately there wasn&#8217;t too much traffic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2462.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6604\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2462.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2462\" width=\"400\" height=\"275\" \/><\/a>Lunch in Sylvania, Ohio<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We stopped for lunch at Tony Packo&#8217;s just outside Toledo. Jamie Farr made the cafe famous by mentioning it during his role as Corporal Klinger in the television comedy MASH. The Hungarian restaurant is known for its perogies, hotdogs, and chili. Jeff noted that the sour pickles were delicious.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2467.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6605\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2467.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2467\" width=\"171\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a>Autographed Rolls<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Among the tasteful decorations at Tony Packo&#8217;s was a plaque of autographed hotdog rolls bearing the signatures of Robert Goulet, Barry Manilow, Paul Anka, Andy Williams, and Perry Como. Does it get any better than that?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2472.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6606\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2472.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2472\" width=\"400\" height=\"237\" \/><\/a>Corn Fields Everywhere<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After lunch we found Route 20 and continued to drive westward. The land was flat and there were vast tracts of cornfields on both sides of the road.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2486.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6607\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2486.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2486\" width=\"400\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a>Sign in Fayette, Ohio<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In Fayette, Ohio we saw a sign for Route 66. Jeff stopped the car and we both got out to take pictures. We both breathed a collective &#8220;Baby Boomer&#8221; sigh. \u00a0Oh well, that will have to be another road trip!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2489.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6608\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2489.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2489\" width=\"400\" height=\"268\" \/><\/a>Fayette Town Cat<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">There was a small park at the intersection with a\u00a0statue of a cat sitting on a stone. The plaque read it was a monument to &#8220;The Town Cat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2502.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6609\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_2502.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2502\" width=\"400\" height=\"248\" \/><\/a>Farmland in Indiana<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">After a while, the road unceremoniously crossed into Indiana. There were more farms with more acres of corn and soy beans. Large farm buildings were seen in the distance. Route 20 continued through a town named Angola. A few miles later we took Route 69 south to Auburn. We had driven for seven and a half hours and we were ready to take a break.
