Most people call the town Jackson Hole and with an elevation of 6311 feet, it is well known for its ski resorts and other outdoor opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_3584.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6800\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_3584.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_3584\" width=\"400\" height=\"277\" \/><\/a>Grand Tetons in the Morning<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We awoke early for the long drive to Yellowstone National Park which passes the magnificent Tetons.\u00a0We arrived at the Old Faithful section of the park just in time to see the famous geyser erupt. The next eruption was predicted in eighty-eight minutes so we rushed outside and took seats around the large viewing area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_3635.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6801\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_3635.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_3635\" width=\"268\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a>Old Faithful<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We learned that the eruptions, which last for just a few minutes, vary in height. This one wasn&#8217;t particularly impressive. However, as I sat watching and listening to the exclamations of the crowd, I realized that Old Faithful is as iconic an American symbol as the Statue of Liberty or the Grand Canyon. It felt\u00a0good to participate in the event.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_3660.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6802\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_3660.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_3660\" width=\"400\" height=\"245\" \/><\/a>Yellowstone Bus<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Bright yellow 1930s buses were restored for tours\u00a0in the park in 2007. \u00a0They carry\u00a0visitors around the park on a variety of paid tours. Since distances take so long to cover in this national park, the bus was a good idea for people who want to sit and enjoy the scenery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_3663.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6803\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/DSC_3663.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_3663\" width=\"233\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a>Beehive Geyser<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We explored the Old Faithful Inn and asked if they had any vacancies in the park for the next three nights. Luck was with us and we made reservations at The Lake Hotel and The Snow Lodge. On our return to the Visitors Center, the Beehive Geyser was about to perform its daily eruption.
