We checked out of the lovely Lake Hotel and drove to the eastern Norris section of the park..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_4090.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6863\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_4090.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_4090\" width=\"400\" height=\"257\" \/><\/a>Entrance to the Norris Geyser Basin<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_4095.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6865\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_4095.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_4095\" width=\"400\" height=\"255\" \/><\/a>Norris Geyser Basin<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">There was a self-proclaimed &#8220;Geyser Gazer&#8221; sitting on a bench in the middle of the boardwalk surrounded by steaming sulphur-smelling pools of hot gas. He encouraged visitors to stay to watch Constant Geyser erupt. The Geezer said the eruption occurred every seventeen minutes &#8211; give or take a few minutes. A small crowd gathered and on cue, Constant did its thing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_4103.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6866\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_4103.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_4103\" width=\"400\" height=\"268\" \/><\/a>Boardwalk Across the Basin<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It was weird to walk above the warm bubbling earth that looked like pictures of the surface of the moon. The pungent odor of sulphur filled the air and tickled inside my nose.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_4108.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6867\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_4108.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_4108\" width=\"400\" height=\"261\" \/><\/a>Like a Moonscape<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_4118.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6868\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_4118.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_4118\" width=\"400\" height=\"287\" \/><\/a>Algae in the Water<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Algae and other micro-organisms grow in the warm water. It was located near Old Faithful and we walked around that area to explore the buildings. Snow Lodge was the only facility in the park which is open to visitors during the winter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_4165.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6876\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_4165.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_4165\" width=\"400\" height=\"329\" \/><\/a>The Snow Lodge Reception<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_4167.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6877\" src=\"https:\/\/gallivantinggrandma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/DSC_4167.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_4167\" width=\"277\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a>Snow Lodge Lounge<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Our room was very clean and comfortable despite no cell phone, no television, and no internet. The decor is rustic modern and practical for skiers. It had a sweeping five-story center area and a huge fireplace. After a few minutes, a\u00a0little girl, about four years old, joined us and sat next to me. I greeted her and asked her name. &#8220;Sage,&#8221; she said with a bright baby-tooth smile. &#8220;S &#8211; A &#8211; G &#8211; E,&#8221; she spelled for me. &#8220;Like sagebrush,&#8221; she added proudly.
